USS WASHINGTON YOKOSUKA JAPAN

YOKOSUKA JAPAN  Home base of the USS Washington--nuclear air-craft carrier. It has 2 nuclear reactors, 4 elevators (each 3,800 sq.ft) 6,500 sailors and airmen, 2 anchors each weighing 30 tons. The flight deck alone is 4.5 acres.

This is the USS George Washington a nuclear aircraft carrier based in Yokousa USA Naval base outside of Tokyo Japan. It is really big, but also small when you think about it. F-18's land and take off from it and this ship can hold 70 aircraft. And when out at sea, has landings and take-offs 24 hours a day. The nuclear part of it lasts for 23 years. Then will be re-fueled.

This is the flight deck where the planes land and are moved around as others come in.

I am not sure why the 73 is up there. It was launched in 1990 and commissioned in 1992 so does not mean the 'birth' of the USS Washington.

The bridge--primary control for EVERY ship and where ALL orders come from, AND is run by a 'kid' around 18 to 19 years old !!!!

The Helm and navigation  of the entire ship. Plus the inside of the bridge.

This is the catapult off the flight deck,it is ONLY 200 feet!!

One of our finest, in their NEW blue uniforms!!

We had lunch in the Admirals Quarters, here is their sports bar. It sure makes you proud to be an American to see these guys, and gals. What a SHIP!!!!!!
