We ran into snow and ice most of the drive day on Saturday, so we took an extra day on the road. We had a couple of days extra on the road in fact, so due to weather we stopped in KC and spent the night with Jonathan and family. It was a perfect night for it because their nephews Andrew and Jack were coming over for their traditional cookie decorating. It was great to see the kids, and we even got to see Charlie, Jane, Sara, and Pat.
The next morning we kind of slept in, and drove to Winfield. We saw numerous cars in the ditch but were able to make it with out a problem
The Christmas celebrations went off with out a hitch. Steve and I drove up Christmas Eve to Betsy's and surprised the girls on Christmas morning. It was perfect!! It was so much fun to see the kids eyes light up for Santa.
We had Christmas with my parents, and Steves Mom over the week end. Of course we also had many Rook tourneys!!
On New Years Eve we met up with Roger and Diane in downtown KC for a celebration at the Kaufman Center. We stayed at The President in downtown and had a great time at the beautiful Kaufman Center with good friend, food, and people watching!!
We wrapped up our time in KC on New Years Day with Jonathan and family at Betsy's house eating black eyed peas, and West Texas Cornbread!! Yummy!!
We then struck out for St. Louis the day after, and met Bo and family at an Italian place on the Hill for an early dinner. It was yummy, we followed that with game playing with Olivia and Eli at home. It was great to see them---they are growing up too fast!!!
We left on January 3rd for some place between there and home. We ended up in Columbus Ohio, at a bar watching football. The next day on our 42 anniversary we drove to Harrisburg Pa, and stopped early to watch the Chiefs play the Indianapolis Colts in the wild card play offs. We picked a good bar, and proceeded to watch the Chiefs in the first half play awesome!! They were up 28 points at half, this was almost in the bank!!! WRONNNNGGGG!! Biggest comeback for Indy, I have ever seen and the Chiefs ended up blowing it!! Boooo hissssss, it took a while to get over that one. We arrived home about 4 pm on Sunday after the last 25 miles took us 2 hours!! Ice was falling and wrecks were everywhere.
Ok,, my resolution is to do better on this blog, so stay tuned!!
